Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in this part of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. The West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a large region that runs from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is commonly known as the place where she was born. It is true that she stayed there for a short period of time. Brugel grew on Courtice just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. She aspired to be professional, however because of a huge increase in her height, she outgrew all of her dancing partners. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. When I grew out of male companions, that's when I gave up. The Brugel is one of the former dancers who turned to acting. The teacher she had at high school encouraged her into the right direction. It was the teacher who recommended she pursue a role for the school's annual production. The student tried it out, and eventually got the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts at York University. Over the past 20 years since Brugel has landed roles on over 60 shows on small and big screens drawing the most interest when she was offered the character of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in The Handmaid's Tale the series filming over 10 years ago.
